Project Raithby
Project Raithby
Raithby is a small farming community alongside the R44 between Somerset West and Stellenbosch. Sports, particularly rugby, are especially important components in the history of this quaint town. The Forward Foundation and the Raithby Primary School, Church, and Sports Council aim to develop an integrated residential sports development academy for children. The academy will invite children from the region with particular talents in sports that cannot be supported by their parents and school. These children will receive specialised sports development support, academic schooling, accommodation, and community inclusion.
The sports development vision for Raithby is a life-long dream for Forward Foundation founder Le Roux Conradie, who lives in the village. His career in sports management and his diverse network of sporting coaches, officials, professional players, and support organisations make him an ideal person to lead this vision.
